Does not matter what the season is, pasta is my comfort food! Here is one simple recipe that your entire family will fall in love with.
Servings: 3-4
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 50 minutes
Total time: 60 minutes
Ingredients:
2lbs of ground beef (85 percent lean/15 percent fat)
1 large onion diced
2 medium carrots diced
2 cups of tomato pure
2 tablespoons of tomato paste
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon white sugar
½ teaspoon of black pepper
½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes
1 cup thinly sliced black olives to garnish
½ cup chopped fresh herbs such as basil, oregano, thyme to garnish
Directions:
1-Add two tablespoons of olive oil to a large pan and cook onions and carrots about 5-7 minutes over medium-high heat until the onions are translucent.
2- Add ground beef, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes into the pan and cook until the meat is no longer pink about 10-12 minutes.
3- Stir tomato paste, tomato sauce and sugar into the pan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium low and cook about 25-30 minutes.
4- Meanwhile cook the spaghetti according to the package directions in generously salted water.
5- Place the spaghetti into serving bowls, top with the sauce, olives and herbs.
6- Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil!
